Initial Consultation

Complete health history taken including visual assessment of anatomy & functional assessment of baby's mouth, observation of typical feeding to identify strengths, prevent common issues and address concerns. Baby will be weighed, milk transfer assessed, assistance with latch and positioning provided. Lactation consultant will answer questions and make a plan with family to support breastfeeding goals. Includes messaging follow up as needed. Typically 1.5 hours in length.

Follow Up Consultation

Review of breastfeeding dyad's feeding plan, weight check, milk transfer assessment, growing norms & expectations, return to work plan. Typically 1 hour in length. Scheduled as needed by consultant per family's needs.

Prenatal Education Consult

Attend with a support person before baby's expected arrival to get proper guidance on what to expect and how to get proper support. Evidence based information regarding breast anatomy, how human milk is made, basic breastfeeding skills including infant feeding patterns & positioning/latch techniques, establishing breastfeeding goals, dietary intolerance, oral restrictions, return to work, weaning. 1 hour in length, in person or virtual availability
